The Keep Calm and Carry On poster was initially produced in 1939 by the British Ministry of Information and was intended as a "last case scenario" to be used to stiffen resolve should the Nazis succeed in invading Britain via Operation Sea Lion. Two-and-a-half million copies were printed, but never used. The designer of the poster is not known.
